Ivory Power Poem by Ima Ryma

Ivory Power

Humans kill elephants each day,
Amounting to thousands each year,
Cuz selling ivory does pay.
Profit is to humans most dear.
All kinds of laws get human made,
Filled with fancy words to make it
Illegal - the ivory trade,
Maybe slows the killing a bit.
But precious ivory is such
That humans will pay any price,
So any law does not mean much.
Priority, to be precise.

'Twill pay to kill, to be succinct,
Till the elephant be extinct.
