Jenny
when i'm falling asleep with my shoes on
because i'm just too-
faded-
to take em off.
you know how it is-
and before i slip out of consciousness...
i send my last text to you-
"do you know what i mean? "
and i fought so hard through the fog-
to stay awake to hear your response-
had some deep need to hear you say just-
"yes"
when you replied-
you changed the subject.
