Jesus Walks Poem by Udaya R. Tennakoon

Jesus Walks

Christmas carols ring the bell
Fireworks above the heads illume
Lighten and brighten streets are sleepless
Along the roads and among the people, Jesus walks

The anger of hungry world he sees
Put on masks of ruined souls grim
Name of peace robbers sell
Along the roads and among the people, Jesus walks

Binary oppositions create waves
Fairness candle melts on temples
Beauty of night 'They' betray
Along the roads and among the people, Jesus walks

With a whip to cleansing of the temple
To chase out 'them' from corrupted altar
Clash of humanity up on the corpse, gun fires
Along the roads and among the people, Jesus walks

They see but eyes are blind
They listen but ears are deaf
They speak but words are empty
Along the roads and among the people, Jesus walks

Cross and crucified statues hung on walls
Forgotten reason slips in Bible
Happy of ceremony sits on cemetery
Christmas without Jesus´s missionary

Along the roads and among the people, Jesus walks
