John Lucey Poem by Francis Duggan

John Lucey

John Lucey was well known around Duhallow in Millstreet Town into manhood he did grow
In his younger years he was a well known character not your mr average of Minor Row
He lived his life to others a bit different not the tribal sort in any way
One never could accuse him of being boring the World in need of more like him today

In his younger years he enjoyed every party he was not your average young sporting man
In Minor row in the old Town of Millstreet in life his journey for him it began
He had his fun enjoyed life and made merry but youth with anyone it does not stay
But he was one who enjoyed every party he made the most of his youth one would say

He was not one who would waste his time arguing on who was the greatest person of Millstreet
Or of politics or war get animated people like him one does not often meet
But he became the life of every party such celebrations he loved to attend
He liked his drink and was one who made merry and he was a nice person to befriend

John Lucey one who deserves to be remembered since the party side of life he did embrace
In his young years often the life of a party Where fun was he never felt out of place
It is so sad for to learn of the passing of one who to the small hours often partied on
And everyone who knew or did know of him will live on with their memories of John.
