A quoi servent les jours?
Les jours sont ou nous nous vivons.
Ils viennent, ils nous reveillent
Maintes et maintes fois.
Ils sont pour le bonheur la-dedans:
Ou peut-on vivre sans les jours?

Ah, resoudre cette question
Apporte le pretre et le medecin
Habilles de leurs longs manteaux
Courant a travers les champs.

- ' Days'. Philip Larkin (1922-1985) .

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
See Poem Hunter/ P.Larkin/ 83/94 for the original.
There is a 'where' as well as a 'when' to days: we have to live

there morning after morning, night after night, until death. We strive to be happy in the time frame of days: there is nowhere else.

If you get too unhappy, you may need the doctor to prescribe pills, or the priest to confide in. They will come running over the fields to help you.

This poem titled, Days, ' by Philip Larkin (1922-1985) is exceptionally very brilliant expressive poem. The days are where we live. They come, they wake us up along with time and again. We feel sunshine and brightness of day to do duty. We get happiness and our problems we solve gaining knowledge. We get remedy from doctor during illness and we hear wisdom of scriptures from priests. A perfect tender translation gives complete essence of this poem. Excellent sharing is done! ..10
