Joyful Hibiscus Poem by Raj Dronamraju

Joyful Hibiscus

I am in the state of becoming more or less memory impaired
Where every seasonal bounty is greeted like a brand new triumph
So the pretty peach portraits of the joyful hibiscus in my garden
Are deeply satisfying ends to weekly gardening journeys

I am in the state of becoming more or less a poor memory
So I state and interpret realness with a quickly vanishing passion
And I will absorb joy from pure peach pondering of joyful hibiscus
I will sit ready for time's accrual when the current flowers dry up and die

The beauty the senses know is the only beauty that matters and the only beauty that is real
So I am in a lawn chair near my front door in correct position to view the yard and garden
And I see happiness in color and creation
But I also see happiness in that every blossom is brief and fleeting and will be soon dried up
Fallen to the ground where it will contribute to the next round of growth of joyful hibiscus
