Just A Moment: Tears Of A Dying Man Poem by Elijah Akinwunmi

Just A Moment: Tears Of A Dying Man

Rating: 4.0

The time is here! Here it comes,
Snarling, roaring and whooshing
Like some ravenous, impatient wolf
Bearing down on a prey, intent on murder.
Swiftly it comes and petrified nature
Stands but for a moment:
A moment more precious than countless treasures,
A moment wherein time's dead and undead
Stand, immortal in resurrection;
A moment wherein a single, statuesque terror
Overwhelms a hundred thousand goods,
A moment wherein Beauty's eyes
Splay, pallid in a paltry visage.

The time is here! Here it comes;
Now I hear the thirsty reaper
Swilling breath from the air,
Yet generous for a moment:
A moment queerly eternal,
A moment before life and death
In bizarre friendship embrace.
