Just One Chance - Poem by Matt Swanson
Ain't that enough?
Two young teens
We have time to dream
Who cares for age?
It ain't nothin' anyway
We'll take it in stride
We'll overcome, you and I
It's true love, it'll last forever...
Sorry babe, but we know that ain't right
Doesn't mean we can't embrace the moment
Doesn't mean we can't enjoy the night
So, if you never listen to me again
Perk up your ear...just once
Give me this one chance, this one dance
I promise...we'll always have the fun
(Sigh) Here Goes...
You're the greatest choice i'll ever make
My favorite earthquake, favorite heartbreak
I may never love, but i'll always remember
That night we spent alone in December.
Chances taken, thoughts mistaken
We may never be the same
I'll always love those special moments
I'll love the way you played my game
I think about you every day
My yellow brick road, you paved the way
I'll remember the days I called you mine
You were everything...so divine.
I'll rue the days I spend without you
I'll recall the moments you spent in my arms
I'll give it all up for 5 more minutes in heaven
Your scent, your lips, the back of my car.
I'll do my best to please you
Never, ever tease you
And if I can't appease you
Then I will never seize you
(Sigh) I guess what i'm trying to say is...
So what if it's not meant to be?
So what if it's not our story?
I'm not ready to cry, to die
So let's give love just one more try.
Skylight, twilight, shooting star
You and me, we'll raise the bar
I'll be you're Romeo, I'll be your guy
You be my Juliet, together we'll fly
Let's make a promise, take a dare
Wish a mouth, oath a swear
Tell me we're fine, tell me you're mine
Promise you won't kill me tonight.
Just one chance, it'll be worth your time.
