Justin And Johanna Poem by Adrian Antique

Justin And Johanna

Last night, I dreamt of them three -
Joshua and the two, with you and me.
Playing in the wind so blithe and free …
So warm and real, their skin I could kiss …
The twinkling in their eyes i still see.

They were part of that picture -
That pastel scene we were painting though unsure -
Little faces of our tomorrow, so clear and pure …
Their names had the same first letter -
Blue Jays of our daylight we were trying to capture.

Two boys and a beautiful girl, that was all
We asked from heaven, not that big, not too small.
We promised to give them the stars, I recall …
And the moon and sun from God's gentle palm;
And to heal them in our arms when they fall.

But instead of a trio, we are gifted with one -
As if all the rainbow colors are woven into a son,
Who calls out to a pair of evening stars to share his fun:
Justin, with his little fingers tickling his brother's feet …
And Johanna, with red roses on her hair done.

Love is just that way - i know them without seeing,
i deeply feel them without even touching,
And in life's voiceless disguises … i just hear them singing.
The sea may have washed away our castles in the sand
Yet, the echoes of our laugh and labors stay forever … dancing
In my hand.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
My wife and I dreamt of having three children. We had names for each one - Joshua, Justin, and Johanna. God only gifted us with Joshua. Leah died of cancer when he was six. But we still talk about his supposed to be siblings like they're here with us.
