Know Poem by Josh Burnett

Know

Well girl for the first time I finally heard your voice calling out to me,
And just for an instant I thought I heard the touch of angels deep within.
Well for the first time I knew that I was going to fall hard for you,
And when I fell I knew that you would be there to pick me up like you could do.
Well girl I know for the first time that I looked into your eyes.
I knew that I saw just a little touch of heaven dancing.

But what I didn’t realize, what I didn’t know was that you like me too.
What I didn’t know is that you was craving for the same kind of love that I do.
What I didn’t know was that you could have been my everything, could’ve been with me.
But I just had to let you go, watched it slip right out of my hands.
I guess I know but I didn’t understand.

When I first found you I saw that you was all alone, with no place to go,
But I had to second guess myself feeling unsure if you would have said yes or no.
I let the chance slip away from my grasp and now you’re never coming back.
I just wonder what could’ve happened if I had only asked.
Would you be right here now by my side to guide my life through the lonely times?
Could you have been mine, but I had to ask myself why,
And now girl you know that I feel so lonely and blue.

I didn’t realize, what I didn’t know was that you like me too.
What I didn’t know is that you was craving for the same kind of love that I do.
What I didn’t know was that you could have been my everything, could’ve been with me.
But I just had to let you go, watched it slip right out of my hands.
I guess I know but I didn’t understand.

Well I saw you just the other day,
And I thought I wasn’t going to let the chance slip away,
But when I saw you girl it tore my heart away,
Because you had your hand in another hand,
And it’s so sad because now I understand.

I didn’t realize, what I didn’t know was that you liked me too.
What I didn’t know is that you was craving for the same kind of love that I do.
What I didn’t know was that you could have been my everything, could’ve been with me.
But I just had to let you go, watched it slip right out of my hands.
I guess I know but I didn’t understand.
