Lady Liberty Poem by Randy McClave

Lady Liberty

The Statue of Liberty lowered her torch
Then she dropped the U.S declaration of independence to the ground,
The light of justice the flame will never again scorch
Hope and freedom never again will be sought or found.

Lady Liberty then stepped off of her pedestal
Then with her left foot she kicked the chain and the shackles away,
No longer will she hold the title of freedom, incredible
On that cold and uncaring, January day.

Lady liberty packed up her suitcase
Filled with hopes and memories of thanks she had received,
She never worried or cared about anyone's religion, belief or race
Freedom, love and justice is what she had believed.

Lady Liberty a new destination she's now seekin'
Sadly no more will the huddled masses sing and dance,
No more will she be seen as America's greatest freedom beacon
She's now on her way walking back to her home in France.
