Last Minute Poem by David Chishimba

Last Minute

I gasped for air, for it was my last.
I looked at her hair, for it was the last.
I don't know where I was going, that wasn't the worst.
Everyone was dropping tears as I gazed.
I was motionless because I was dazed.
I dropped a tear, I guess I was afraid.
I dropped another tear, it was for regret.
Regret that I have lived my life and not accomplished all I ever wanted, like I was in haste.
The light was slowly approaching, I looked at the dark maybe it was the last.
Then I felt peace at last....
