Late Night Thoughts Poem by Cece Winters

Late Night Thoughts

I wish we could go to the beach at sunset.
When it's empty.
Sit back on a blanket beneath a palm tree
And just talk until the sunset goes down
And the stars come out
Until they tell us to go home.
My knees grow weak as the light
Shines onto your eyes.
Maybe my mind gets dizzy with the thought
That I may be a high tidal wave
That can easily wash away the foundations
of a barely built sandcastle.
And maybe I just want to tell you everything
That's on my mind at 2am
Hoping that you feel the same way.
