Latent Results Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Latent Results

Anyone who has made attempts,
To protect their growing children...
From living their lives to experience,
The ups and downs with disappointments to face.
Discover this mistake made too late.
After looking into the eyes to realize,
No longer is that a child.
But an adult.
Latent with results to prove it.

Incapable to accept responsibility.
Accusative and blame claiming.
Excuse making.
Party thirsty yet hungry for success.
Representing lessons learned from the nest!
While running away,
Unable to face their own dilemmas made.

"What's the matter now.
Your new shoes have a scratch on them? "

-No.
It's not that serious.
But today I was told,
My attitude is childish.-

"Childish?
You?
By who? "

-My boss at work.
Said I was not mentally prepared,
To take on the responsibilities...
Of being promoted to become supervisor.-

"And...
Your problem is what?
Denial? "
