Leaving Home Poem by Naomi Waters

Leaving Home

It is time for me to go
I have been considering this for awhile
Its not that you don't love me
Its just that I am ready to go
Yes I have money
Yes I have a place to stay
And yes I have plenty of gas
This is hard for you
I know
But its time for me to go
You have taught me all that you know
I'm not exactly little anymore
I have a job
I know what i'm doing
And yes I have a plan for my life
As I walk out the door
Its as if I am still 5 years old
Being lifted up on my daddy's shoulders
We all know that everyone grows up sometime
I am ready to go
Yes I do think
I am ready to leave home

This isn't exactly one of my best pieces I wrote this several years ago and to be honest I may try and rewriting it so that it sounds better. But of course I will still leave the original elements in the rewritten version.
