Lemming Lure Poem by Ima Ryma

Lemming Lure

We lemmings get the urge to take
A trip from old to someplace new.
Kind of like humans go on break,
And head for seaside rendezvous.
We show up at the beach in mass.
Tiz so crowded, some of us think
There's no room on the land, alas.
So why not dip into the drink?
Some humans call it suicide,
Some kind of weird and wild death wish.
But we don't know until we've tried,
That we aren't swimmers like the fish.

The lemmings' life is not at sea.
Alas, tiz death by drowning be.
