Leonard's Bar (Aft. L. Cohen) Poem by LeeAnn Azzopardi

Leonard's Bar (Aft. L. Cohen)

Rating: 5.0

These over-priced drinks are awful
But the band is happening
We love this old dive in our neighbourhood
As the summer comes to an end
Then, nothing happens until New Year's Eve
When it's really hopping
Where lovers break up at the ring of midnight
And the loners drink to another year over
As the new one doesn't give any hope for redemption
Landing in each other's beds with wicked hangovers
And can't remember what time
When they jumped into bed--or with who?
And then, go to the diner around the corner for a cure all
While heading home in the wintry streets
Of this old neighbourhood
The sun shines brightly behind the clouds
And new year begins
