Let It Be Me Poem by Yewande Adedokun

Let It Be Me

The raven came with a note
It must be raining tears where you are because it came in wet
No one sees you in the dark
A strange place with nowhere to turn
The hope comes first with a sound
It is quickly followed by the anxiety for time of if anyone will find you here

Oh, shame on me to think anyone will come get me
Is the voice in your head
The world is cruel and not worthy to fight for
All you need is a little light to get out of there
Only your breath you hear
Your eyes sees nothing else
The raven saw you and brought your thoughts
And I reply you

Let me be the reason you fight
Let it be me who makes you touch on the wall for guidance
Let it be me who brings your soul the strength
Let it be me who makes you search for the light

I am that cheerful dog that runs to your side and lick your face
I am the love of your life that makes you laugh
I am that good memory from childhood
I am that dream that woke you up with such excitement
I am the friend who listens
I am that stranger who was warm
I am that preacher who spoke words of light
I am that video of inspiration
I am the family member who will not judge your weakness or vunerability
I am whatever will make you get up and search the light, because it is not the same world without you.
