Life Nurtures Us Poem by Gerald Opio

Life Nurtures Us

Unaware we are
During our birth
Till moments later
When our minds grow
To discern
Between right
And wrong
Hereafter
Can we act on our own
Spontaneously
But naive
Our minds are
As we attest
To what life really is
Whenceforth ought we live
In corcodance to life's tunes
As it nurtures us
Into virtuous persons
Worthy of a name
Among delegates
Or amidst a table for royals
Life enables us to see
As we see
In order to perceive
As we perceive
So that we distinguish
Between good
And evil
Courtesy to conscience
Our highest authority
You doth needn't avert from it
Even when overwrought
Sticking to your guns
Upholding moral obligation
Iron-handedly.
