Life's Casino Poem by Sandra Feldman

Life's Casino

Fair or Unfair,
In Life's Casino,
We're so often stuck!
With so many chips,
That have no luck
In Life's roulette,
This game is called,
'La Fuerza del Destino'

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

I am very familiar with the play because of Verdi's operatic setting. It's one of his supreme masterpieces, and the impossibly quiet ending with only the strings playing is poignant past belief. I can hear it now in my memory... In any case, I fervently hope life is not like gambling. because of the disconnect between intentions and results. Casinos strike me as such false places with the glitter and the decorations distracting you from the losses you suffer. Wait a moment! That does sound like life experiences - at least in part.
