Life's Songs Poem by Benjamin Chiu Uy

Life's Songs

Life's Songs

A highway, a song, a man, a beautiful woman,
A song, an unformed idea, a lost cause, a dream.

A cheerfull man, an abandoned woman,
A gracesfull spirit, a desperate soul and a lonely wanderer in this uncertain world,

Stepped in legends, myths, folklords, superstitions,
Gods promise, dreams come true, loud music, silent background wailings and undependable securities.

Powefull as heavy storms, heavy rains, tornadoes, tsunamis, droughts, climate change, calamities, bountiful harvests and miracle survivals,

Unknown sufferings, unknown body maladies, cheerfull insanities, loud joys.
Where dreams are as real as reality, and reality are sometimes as feasible a stab in the belly, a highway accident or a bullet hole from a gun,

A terminal cancers, a winning lotto ticket,

An unknown Earth, a familiar sky, a boring day a solitary night and a life getting nowhere.
As secret as a hermits lair, a fugutive from the law and a death inmate.
As useless as a persona ingrata, a prison sentence, a political incalcerations,

As hopeful as a new immigrant, a new father, an aclaimned scientists, a Nobel
Prized winner, a rock star and a rising corporate CEO,

Enthusiastic, fatalistic, God inspired,
The rich and poor,
The hero Captain or the scoundrel.
The good husband or the dysfunctional mother,

The drug addict, the upstanding teacher, the nun, the mother superior,
The vain and the beautiful,
The ugly the plain, and the deformed,

The rover, the highways, the homecoming,
The emigrant, a new citizen,
A song diva, a grandmother, a matriach Queen or a beautiful princess,

A song, a God, the long journeys ahead
The distant future, the travels, the dreams,
The rover, a body walking towards a long highways, dreaming and singing a song.
