Life Stages Poem by Ima Ryma

Life Stages

It took some work then she was free,
Breaking through the barrier that
Had held her for a time, and she
Began life in new habitat.
All she wanted to do was eat.
Instinctively food was her job.
Moving about on tiny feet,
She found the food and ate a gob.
And through some time, bigger she grew.
She found a place quite opportune
To stay a while, as she just knew
She needed rest in her cocoon.

The caterpillar knew not why,
But soon would be a butterfly.
