Limpid Love

Limpid Love
(a poem by Shakil Ahmed)

I hearkened the howling of roddent hound
And gnashing of violent pig
Jeering at the plight of gnostic soul
The sloth bear gnarring out of anguish
In the grill of iron cage
The eyes of violent tiger glistening
As red ember of household hearth
Purple sun flaring up
Spreading its burning light
Upon the back of wailing earth
Melodious gowk hovering
In the gust of violent wind
Spreading its black feathers
Petals of rose searing and turning
As decayed leaves of mango tree
When everything was such
Propelling us towards an infinite void,
She slunk beating the crimping darkness
Flunting the hem of her lovely sari
Dispersing the aroma of her limpid love
Golloping my pain and grief
Rinsing my brooding heart
With her briny tear-drops.
She slit my heart
Into two halves
By casting a glance
Of her glaucous eyes
I could feel
Our hearts were beating the same beat
For the first time without missing.
