Linda The Poetess Poem by Francis Duggan

Linda The Poetess

I often see her in the park walking her black poodle she is in her mid sixties maybe
A greying though quite beautiful woman she smiles and says good day to me
At length to her I have not spoken though in the Town she is well known
She is Linda the Local Poet Laureate as a wordsmith in a class of her own.

So wise and down to earth and clever and as wordsmiths go she is quite rare
For her poems are born of feelings and few poets with her can hope to compare
Her poems show her empathy for the sufferings of others she is anti war and pro refugee
She is on the side of the downtrodden the poor who live in poverty.

Thank goodness for the likes of Linda she makes such good use of her pen
A poetess who with the power of her words makes an impression in this World of power hungry men
At poetry readings she's the main attraction the Poet Laureate of the Town
Her poems are original and so well written and her's is more than a Local renown.

I often see her in the park walking her poodle and she always smiles and says hello
Linda the poetess of the people as a wordsmith her reputation grow
As well as her great gift of poetry she has the gift of empathy
And her nickname one might say an apt one she is known as the Queen of Poetry.
