Listen Poem by Cathy Phew

Listen

Give me a minute of your time
60 seconds to be precise
Before you shut me out
i ask you hear me out
just listen, i wont shout

When i speak i see you face
unfazed, you don't concentrate
no matter how much i strain
for your attention to attain
you shun me with no shame
ignore me all the same
just listen to what i say,

I don't always speak with words
sometimes my herat will shout
then my eyes will cry out loud
but you just can't figure it out
that am trying to reach out
asking you to hear me out
just listen, this time round

Pass me the microphone, its my time to speak
and i hope you are listening
cause i can't keep repeating
just listen earnestly

When i say that i wont cry
When i say that am alright
When i say that you are the best
my strength and hope at night
Do you listen, do you try
or do my words just pass you by.

I don't want a thousand cars
or the moon and all the stars
I don't want any cash
mansion cribs or gucci clad
Just listen, thats all i ask
..i hope its not too much.
