Live By Choice Poem by Paul Sebastian

Live By Choice

Rating: 4.5

Love could wear a mask
When love is not real
Love could fake while it last
It could be a wheel and deal

One falls in love for a season
Disguised to trap the genuine
For a selfish motive or reason
The weak, fall for love unseen

Some fall in, want to be abused
Some go for fun of being loved
Some want to use and be used
Some to experience being loved

Need for love, can be strong
Virtual love's unreal, full of snares
Leading to ties that go wrong
Heartbreaks follow, reality bares

Hurts, disappointments and pain
Suspicion, distrust could seat deeply
Make future real relationship strain
Disillusioned, real love suffers painfully

Some make mistakes, but do not learn
Some carry guilt and suffer quietly in tears
Some escape into affairs, become mean
Permanent relationship distanced, for fears

Why tread a path when the end is naught?
Why seek painful hurts, blindly sought?
Why forsake being happy for misery?
Why sell your soul to live a life in worry?

Will we ever learn from wisdom gained?
Will we still seek fantasy, inherit its bane?
Will we ever learn happiness is a choice?
Would we suffer condemnation, by choice?

Life is a choice, choose peace
Life is abundant, live to rejoice
Life is meaningful, live in grace
Life has a purpose, live by choice
