'' Live With The Strife '' Poem by Bri Mar

'' Live With The Strife ''

You I defended,
Without fear or favour,
On me you depended,
When others did waver.

When going through Hell,
My loyalty stood tall,
Whenever you fell,
To me you would crawl.

Then things went awry,
Life became a charade,
You started to deny,
The deceit being played.

While messing around,
It soon becomes clear,
The effects are profound,
You become cavalier.

What you're trying to hide,
Means telling more lies,
The truth you deride,
Your integrity dies.

Those lies you've forgotten,
Leave you distraught,
Soon you feel rotten,
You know you'll be caught.

But you don't feel shame,
You just get annoyed,
Find another to blame,
The facts you avoid.

When reality then bites,
Your conscience kicks in,
You fall from the heights,
You feel sick within.

Those you deceived,
refuse to forgive,
No longer believed,
Is how you must live.

Those who loved you,
Then start a new life,
You get what you're due,
