The day we accepted a ceasefire
We were making advances everyday

The enemy was about to be defeated
He now understood we had something to say

When at his doorstep we silenced our guns
Thinking he had had enough pounding monday to monday

He appeared to surrender in order to regroup
Here we are again disagreeing day after day

When we decided to give peace a chance and forgot;
"He who fights and runs away lives to fight another day"

The dreaded event came on May Day
When we took up arms again
