Lonely Man - Poem by James Trotter

There's a man standing on the horizon
He looks confused and injured
He's clutching his side
And staring at the sky
Perhaps in search of some distant star
But the star is no longer burning
So he moves south
Until he reaches the sea
Hair long and beard shaggy
He searches for a barber
When he finds one it is on the beach
Facing the blue sea
The barber snips at his hair
Without saying a word
He finishes and fetches the straight razor
Applies cream with a brush
And starts to shave
Soon the man sees the sea changing colors
And the sky turns dark
His neck burns
He looks down to see his shirt covered in blood
His throat is slit
