Lonely Today Lonely Tomorrow Poem by Katherine Perry

Lonely Today Lonely Tomorrow

Why is it that there are more lonely people today than there
were in ages past
When we are surrounded with much more than we can chew
Maybe it's because those things we value do not last
Leaving us left with nothing else to do

We close ourselves behind closed doors
Our eyes so focused on what a machine can offer and do
Not even knowing when it rains or when it pours
Giving more and more meaning into the old saying 'You snooze
you lose'

It's no wonder we are so lonely
Observe closely and you will then see
People running around with cellphones being held as holy
Having an attitude that nothing else matters but me

What we don't want to admit and change
Is going to eventually leave us stranded
And one day nobody will remember our names
For the spotlight was more on the material things that were
demanded

If we are not willing to change what we have gotten use to
Then we will keep on relying on the things that mean the less
And if we keep on and on doing what we want to
Then all the things that were once important will be forgotten
and laid to rest!
