There's inspiration in a city's illustry
(ex illustriousness) .

'Illustry', inspired by 'illustriousness',
replaced it.

Also do-able:
'a renew' replaced 'a renewable';
its opposite became 'a non'.

That was nothing new:
'up' had long been dropped from 'on'
(though not the 'e' from 'gone') .

A 'postponement' became a 'postpone'.

There's inspiration in illustry,
but not in illustry alone;
Walt Whitman would devise
that it lies
in potential lovers' eyes.

Sometimes there is illusion and inspiration sometimes trapped by illusion. An amazing poem is beautifully penned.10
