Long Live Bangbandhu Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

Long Live Bangbandhu

Long live

Long live Bangbandhu*
As he was called and respected
It was his dream to free land
And bring oppression to an end

The Pakistani army had inflicted wounds
It still remains in mind and hounds
It was bad dream that left with scars
Now the Pakistan has gone far

He is father of the nation
And new development has strengthened relation
It has improved internationally
And became somewhat tolerant neighborly

Why India values friendship?
The countries are poor and need ships
Full of commodities that are in plenty
Both can benefit locally

The boundary problem has been solved
India sacrificed thousands of soldiers and given aid
It asked nothing in return but calm border
Sheikh Hasina* is on her father's foot step and doing better

Sheikh Hasina: - Bangladesh prime minister
Bangbandhu: - Her father

I enjoyed reading this poem which has taught me something new. Before I read it, I knew nothing about Bangbandhu or the history of Bangladesh and its liberation movement. I have enjoyed researching him, learning about him and learning that his daughter Sheikh Hasina is now the current Prime Minister of Bangladesh. Thank you.
