Looking For Love Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Looking For Love

If you're looking for love.
You don't know what love is.
If it's not there to feel it,
To give.
It won't be yours to get.
And if you're looking for love,
How will it to you appear.
How will you know it to be recognized.
If your heart is not open.
To know it near.

Some look around for a love that's perfect.
Whatever that is.
And look around for their happiness.
As if a hunter on the prowl.
As to find love awaiting to be captured.
Out of breath,
And desperate to be found.

Love to know it has to be felt first.
Like a thirsting of it to quench.
Already known and not pretending of it.

If you're looking for love.
What is it that you're looking for.
What is it that you're hoping to get.
And what is it that you've got to give.
Who is it will ultimately benefit.
If that love to be found,
Is not a mutual fit.

"You have just what I've been looking for."

-Oh?
Well...
I'm looking to feel the chemistry.-

"Chemistry?
I had that class in college.
And barely passed it."

-I'm not looking for a scholar.
Love to feel is there every hour.
Every second and minute of each day.-

"What kind of love is that? "

-Felt to feel to always have.-

"That's too weird for me."

-And I am glad for me,
What you have is not a mystery.-

"What do you mean by that?
Don't you find me attractive? "
