Love? Poem by Tammi Tomlinson

Love?

What is love?
Love is when I look at you,
It is when we talk on the phone,
Its when I wipe the tears from your eyes,
Its when you fill my thoughts all day,
Every day.

We can't be together,
We both have others we are with,
Unhappily living my life,
For the sake of a child.

You told me you loved me,
From the moment we met,
Yet you share a bed with another,
Can you hear that sound?
Its my heart breaking.

Sometimes I don't believe,
The things you tell me,
About love, and truth and honesty,
Because I know I would always share you with another.

Doubts in my mind,
As I lay alone in bed,
My partner downstairs,
For the third month running.

Drifting apart,
Only draws you closer,
But you would never leave her,
I understand that now.

So what's the point in falling in love,
When you just fall apart,
Pushing each other into the arms of another,
Ruining the lives you create in the process.

I can't help myself,
I love you more than life itself,
You don't understand what its like,
To be unable to have,
The one you love.
