Love Poem by Mark McGarry

Love

Rating: 5.0

Love has no rhyme it has no reason,
Love knows no time it knows no season,
It comes and goes in many ways,
Sometimes it’s brief sometimes it stays,
It’ll ask you questions and tell you lies
And often take you by surprise,
It bears no prejudice and seeks no trait
Like age or beauty, race or weight.
Offering no excuse and taking no offence,
Be clear as day yet make no sense.

Love puts a bounce in steps and frowns on faces
Love can come from many different places.
It seeks out some and hides from others
Never judging books by covers.
Some loves are true and some are fleeting
Too often love will take a beating.
The strength of love has no equal
The truest love can have no sequel.
It turns the faintest heart to brave
And also brings happy souls to slave.

A power way beyond our measure
Hunted down by some like treasure
Rarely smooth does true love run,
But run it has since time begun.
It finds a way when all looks lost
This priceless gift that has no cost
It gives us hope, and keeps us strong
It makes us feel that we belong
A million wrong’s can turn to right,
If the eternal flame of love burns bright!

Mark, I like this very much - packed with truth and sparkling turns of phrase: 'The strength of love has no equal/The truest love can have no sequel' and 'It finds a way when all looks lost/This priceless gift that has no cost', more.
