I held love lightly in my hands,
A trembling bird, too frail to stay,
It flew beyond the golden sands,
And left me wandering, lost, astray.
I needed love like breath, like air,
Yet fear unstitched the fragile thread,
I let it slip—too much to bear,
And now I walk where ghosts have fled.
The light was kind, a silver flame,
It touched my hair, it kissed my brow,
Yet I, too weary, frail, and tired,
Could not go on, nor stop it now.
No cry, no call, no pleading breath,
Could bind my heart or soothe my breast,
And so I met a useless death,
Drowned silent in my unshed tears.
