Love Found To Know It Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Love Found To Know It

Love found to know it,
And kept had is fine.
But wanting to be around,
The one supplying that love...
24/7 and all the time.
Will no longer be love.
To know what it was.
If the one who had supplied that love,
Is heard to argue...
With a next door neighbor,
Over why their time cheating with a spouse...
Who happens to hear this,
Coming home early to find this out.
To then claim to both,
How it feels to be betrayed.
In such a humiliating and embarrassing way.
When all they have done,
Was to be devoted and loyal...
To loving those in need of it to please.

"We...
And not you,
Are the victims here.
How could you use us like that? "

-I had been warned and told,
One day my love to give unconditionally...
Would be taken for granted.
Ripped to shreds,
By unproven allegations and rumors to spread.
And here I am...
Attacked and defenseless.
Because of my willingness to express love.
I am left...
Emotionally devastated."
