Love Has No Expiry Date. Poem by Marie Shine

Love Has No Expiry Date.

Rating: 5.0

Though it is summer
the cold storms of winter
have blown into my heart
chilling me to the core

There is no warmth in the
summer sun for me
my heart is numb
unable to feel anymore

I sit alone with my memories
bitter-sweet in taste; my fate
to realise, unexpectedly,
that love has no expiry date

Love Has No Expiry Date.

Longevity might have its down side, that's for sure. Outliving the person you have shared so many moments both joyous and tragic and moments spent clinging to each other in fear and dread.... the loneliness will drab up the most spring-like day... not looking forward to being alone at the end of my life. This is a well-written poem with a topic that was needing to be brought up.
