Love is the Matter of Purse and Passion
Poem by: Freeyad Ibrahim
*
When a gazelle
Out of two lovers
Has to choose one:
The rich gentleman
Or the poor,
The rich guy offers her
A luxurious gift,
The poor has got none
Her favour would
instinctively
to the rich shift.
The frustrated young
Has got nothing to be done
but his words of plea to pour:
‘O my precious pearl
It is true I am poor in Purse
But yet I am richer …
O my Girl!
Don't look at my Hut
And his Mansion.
Look in my heart
Which is hot with Passion
Without WHAT or But…
Haven't you heard the old say:
‘The Poor is among lovers the truest
The most honest
Origin with no imitations
For once he loves,
he has got no
material Temptations
To offer
To his beloved
But his Heart! "
