Love Pains Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Love Pains

It does not matter to anyone else,
Who hides a broken heart.
To mend alone with no one's help.
Especially not that 'significant' other.
Who did this just to prove,
Easy love to easy get is also easy to use.

It doesn't matter,
How much love is given with this said.
And shown to someone,
Selfish with a thick stubborn head.
Even though the doing brings another to tears,
One determined to play the part to be cruel...
Will act like a child.
As if still in elementary school.

Love pains.
And aches a heart to leave one bitter.
Love pains.
The one remaining not a quitter.
Love pains.
For someone undeserving,
Yet forgiven to get more.
Returning to apologize,
To the one left pacing the floor.

Love pains.
And aches a heart to leave one bitter.
Love pains.
The one remaining not to be a quitter.
A love like this,
For someone undeserving of it.
Yet forgiven to get more.
Seems never to be appreciated,
By the one who returns...
Knowing they will find,
An opened and not locked door.

"You see my keys? "

-Your what?
Keys?
You have nothing else to say to me? -

"What are you so upset about?
They're not yours.
I could have taken them.
But I didn't."

-I don't know what I'm going to do with you.-

"You can help me find my keys.
If this is a quiz."

-I really want to spank you.
But you might love it too much.-

"There you go.
Promises, promises."
