Love Promise Poem by Paul Sebastian

Love Promise

Rating: 5.0

On that fateful Saturday evening we first met…
Facing each other in a restaurant we sat
Trying to make small talk nervously
Choosing what and how to say carefully
Ate our dinner, picking food so slowly
Focused on each other, sharing intensely
Everything around us seemed oblivious
Our chain of thoughts were endless
That captured moment was timeless
Our love’s beginning…

Days paced quickly into months.
Treasured some precious moments:
How I warmed your small cold hands
Sharing our love, the depths we went.
First sizzling virgin’s kiss, awkward somewhat
Warm soft lips, helpless, quivering and wet
Our embrace melted into each other’s arms
Our hearts at that instant joined as one.
Our love expressed in touching…

The impatient year rushed us fast…
While we built a love-castle to last
Weathered through fights and hurts
Yo-yo mood swings, gauging mood charts
Discovering each other’s gifts and needs
Learning to listen to each other’s feelings
Practicing the skills of communicating
Between hours, daily phone-messaging
Registering each other’s mood swings
Our love: we were always confessing
Our love-boat cruised down Love River
A journey we wanted to last forever

Asked you to be my lifetime partner
You beamed, we embraced and kissed
(A movie-strip moment we cherished)
We lingered, our arms locked tight
Flying without wings: our hearts took flight
Kissed away your love-burning hot tears
Vowed to honour and cherish you always
Our love’s promise confessed…

We promised:

Our love is a decision, not a feeling
Our love is unconditional, not inhibiting
We communicate the five love languages
Our love is a life-long mission to witness
Our love is covenanted
Our love is God-centred
Our love is exclusive
Our love is creative
Our altar promise to keep faithfully
Until death do us part, we shall be.

The great story of two people coming together, emotionally drawing closer and closer with time and finally entering into an abiding relationship until death do them part! Beautifully put! ! Enjoyed the warmth with which you have bared your feelings! !
