Love Went Wandering Into The Sea Poem by Mark Heathcote

Love Went Wandering Into The Sea

Love went wandering into the sea.
Holding on to a mask, sinking fast
Love went wandering into the sea.
Into the black and green waves of the sea

Love went wandering into the sea.
And yet she looked quite happy and gaily.
Love went wandering into the sea.
Where an anchor drops fast into the sea

Love went wandering into the sea.
Weaving white Aran jumpers in block patterns
And sometimes unravelled like the weeds of the sea
Weaving dark Aran jumpers in block patterns for me

Love went wandering into the sea.
She was opened up like an oyster of the sea.
Love went wandering into the sea.
Opening up under a knife for me

Love went wandering into the sea.
Love opened up for me.
Love leaves me dreaming, dreaming on the sea.
She could be a fishwife for me.

She could be a fishwife for me.
She could be the fish that never bites.
But she still secretly wants me.
She could be the fishwife for me, who loves her too.
