Lunar Eclipse (2/20/08) Poem by Theresa Ann Moore

Lunar Eclipse (2/20/08)

Rating: 5.0

In the still of the frigid winter sky
You are slowly vanishing from my eyes
The thirsty shadow of the earth is swallowing
As luminosity fades with darkness following

I’ve seen your face masked in black before
I am not frightened by your absence anymore
I know that your brightness soon will reappear
A glowing halo reminds me that you persevere

The hours are weighing on my drooping eyelids
With a strong desire to sleep my intent forbids
A lunar eclipse doesn’t happen on a daily basis
Each time it does, I want to witness the genesis

Following fading darkness, you radiantly revive
Inspiring my optimism to continuing and thrive…
A symbol that overcomes weakness and dreariness
Your renewed glow rekindles my hope for happiness

We caught only part of this Eclipse, so your wonderful poem filled in for what the clouds did not allow us to fully enjoy. Thank you.
