Many Will Say Of Corvids Poem by Francis Duggan

Many Will Say Of Corvids

Many will say of corvids a crow is just a crow
But of the different species of that family so little most do know
One family of birds I speak of here that's to be found Worldwide
And in the harshest of climates they happily reside
Just one species of Nature's birds there are many hundreds more
They are to be found around the World from the north to the southern shore
Just one small part of Nature and in all honesty I can say
That I know little about them though I see and hear them every day
Crows can live to twenty five years for a bird that does seem old
But some species of parrots can live for a century by ornithologists we are told
But the cleverest birds are corvids most experts do agree
And on that they never will have an argument from me
But even crows birds I see every day I do not know that much about
And of my lack of knowledge on Nature I have never been in doubt.
