Marking Your Birthday Although You Are Not Here… Poem by Sebastian Melmoth

Marking Your Birthday Although You Are Not Here…

Rating: 5.0

Marking your birthday although you are not here
The heartfelt sorrow on the first one since you went away
Symbolic acknowledgement of the celebration that could have been
70 years old in this life and the next, hoping your having your own party in the sky
Remembering you fondly raising a glass to you above the clouds
Good food, good company and a drink the best way to show our respects to you
Wishing so much that there was only more we could do
Cards and balloons, we bring and a hug around a cold slab headstone
Wishing we could see you face to face again to tell you in person how much we miss you
A graveside toast is what we are left with in hope and in faith you can feel the love in your resting place
