Martinis And Houdinis And Genies Poem by Gayathri Seetharam

Martinis And Houdinis And Genies

Martinis and Houdinis and Genies
-Gayathri B. Seetharam
The clink of ice in a glass of martini
Stirred but not shaken
Surely, Mr. Bond, James Bond,
You have been stirred but not shaken by
The sight of a woman in need of a man
For you are a man of steel, a will of iron
And eyes of copper sulphate blue;

007, you are on a mission to seduce
Says, Sir M or is it just M,
For it is a game of high stakes
You play for the Queen
And you are an ace at the game;

Do I have a flush, Mr. PM Justin Trudeau,
For I play for you
And the dictates of the game say
I play blind
And trust in Lady Luck
Who knocks on my door
And you make an entry;

It seems to me for every time
That I am getting more broken hearted
What's the name of the game?
Thank you for the music or Dancing Queen;

Is it Mission Impossible, Mr. PM?
Catchy tunes have a way
Of getting in your head
Tugging at your heart strings;

Its only rock and roll
And I like it
Break on through to the other side
I like my colour TV;

The DVD player is our home theatre
Movies, music and ourselves for one hell of a mechanical music
But living in the limelight, a universal dream,
If Houdini says, A penny for your thoughts,
The genie from the lamp says, Trust in PM Justin Trudeau,
For he is going to make your wildest dreams come true.
