Men In My Life Poem by Gayathri Seetharam

Men In My Life

Men in my Life
-Gayathri B. Seetharam
I must sing praises of the male sex
For it is my son's 21st birthday
And he officially, becomes a young man
Who has to make his way in the world
Albeit after his graduation and master's degree;

But coming back to me, I would like to say that Clark Gable
Was the first man who made me think that if a girl, in spite of being small breasted but small waist"ed" and beautiful
Could get her way with a man
How smooth the path could be if she were to be beautiful and big breasted and reasonably small waist"ed" and
I found that the path is smooth as ice
And I heard Muddy Waters sing convincingly
That he could show his lady love
How nice a man could be
For he could buy her a Cadillac
And I momentarily rejoiced in the feeling of self-pride for I had a 4 year lease on a 2003 Mazda Protege;

This brings me to the rhetorical question
That men in my life behave a little differently
My husband says that I should earn and pay off my credit card debts
And I am trying hard to do so, believe me, please;

Other men who may trace a well-defined path in my career oriented goals
Show an impregnable side
Which is an impenetrable fortress
That does not succumb to my Psyche arrows, flower tipped,
For Eros will not heed my work plus pay along with love with sex
Without strings attached - plea;

However, I am armed and dangerous
For I intend to make flower arrangements
Spelling out LOVE and SEX AND WORK and PAY
In the hope that I shall make conquests out of all these men including my husband
For if work empowers me, pay deifies me
And if love is glorious in its beauty, sex is resplendently splendid.
