Marx Is Dead Again Poem by Jyotishman Debnath

Marx Is Dead Again

1) a booming economy
billion dollar cash reserve
skyscrapers, luxury hotels
prosperity everywhere
eat, drink and be merry
oh what a relief!
we are proud of our country.
thank you globalization.

2) Ruby is a maid
age thirteen, she doesn't dream
she wakes up early
washes clothes, prepares foods for her master
she works the whole day
without pay
her father has taken a loan
and she is the return

mathematics students, can i call it compound interest?

3) 'survival of the fittest'
an old doctrine yet new
go hang out, have fun
young Hegelians died way before
who's gonna stop you?
buy silk, buy gold
buy diamond ring, give it to your girlfriend
have a candle light dinner..have fun buddy
earn money, deposit it in your bank
get pay cheques, build your own house
make your parents proud
prosperity everywhere
we are so proud of our country!

4) ruby is too young to know
what is equality, justice, brotherhood
neither she knows who is marx, lenin or mao
she never read 'das kapital'
illiterate brute!
but she works everyday
with hunger, thirst
she gets no pay
she is the interest of her fathers loan
one day she will leave the loan to her child
is this what you call 'buy one get one free'?

i have seen her yesterday
she was weeping
not for she is beaten by her master
but for some unknown reason.

i inferred, marx her 'elder brother'!
has died in her laps. what a pity!

and today i have written a poem about this
NONSENSE!
