Maskers Poem by nimal dunuhinga

Maskers

Everybody on this stage
do a different role.
It's prohibited to remove one's mask
and see the real face.
The given role you have to perform
whether you like it or not.
The director too masked
and you cannot protest the dictator
either good or bad.
Be quiet until the curtain close.

Only the very few dare to give themselves away for the cause of freedom. The rest of us usually just stand by watching. Edward Everett said it best, 'I cannot do everything, But still I can do something: And because I cannot do everything I will not refuse to do the something I can do.'.but he died in 1909.A very thought provoking poem, Nimal. You have my applause. Regards, Sandra

That about sums it up Nimal. We all where a mask, and our role must meet the approval of the dictator, whether we like it or not. Or we get thrown in jail!
