(in response to Sanju Paul's artwork 'Unus Mundus')
... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ...
Looking back on the moment when flowers began to cooperate with pollinators,
no one would demean the living stuff in them by calling it mere clay.
Every time there is a breakthrough in life arrangements, we can see
that the life force has set the stage for a new dance movement.
Anyone who looks deeply enough into the material world knows
it is not dust beneath a mechanistic thinker's boot heel.
The idea of matter has been maligned by minds that belittle the objects of their desires.
The word 'materialism' is an insult to stardust.
Nature loves to improvise whorls and striations, to channel her streams of heat and light.
Her intricacy is prepared for in corners of the deepest substrates.
From a boundless journey of incubation her creatures emerge, ready to be loved;
they are alive in the living theater of heaven and earth.
